Happy Halloween!

Today was full of excitement, anticipation, cute boys in costumes, trick-or-treating with the cousins, eating LOTS of sugar, and of course....meltdowns. And now the house is quiet with sleeping boys! The perfect Halloween!
and a big THANK YOU to Shelley who lent us the adorable Tigger costume!

Colby's Fashion Sense

This is my adorable, smart, loving and fashionable? boy Colby. Please take note at the pants and how short they are. No, he is not preparing for a flood....he has grown out of these pants. There are his "comfy" pants that he absolutely LOVES! When I ask him to go get dressed in the morning and I haven't picked out an outfit, this is what he comes out looking like. His "95" shirt (it has the number 95 on it that you can't see, and that is Lightening McQueens number) and his "comfy pants". Being a girl who has a little fashion sense (even though it is debateable at the moment), I guess there is a part of me that wishes that he cares what he wears. But then I remember he is a BOY! And they are all about comfort. And Nate keeps reminding me of that. He tells me I can buy all the nice clothes in the world, but a guy just wants what is comfy. So, needless to say, I think it is time to put the pants away, far, far away. But I will give him a couple more weeks with his beloved comfy pants. I love you, Colby! :-)

It's All About the Pumpkins!

We went to the pumpkin patch tonight with our friends Gary and Jana and their two adorable boys! We got to go on a tractor ride, but not before we had their yummy apple cider donuts! We had a great time and the kids loved it! This is Cars with the sippy cup clutched in his arms, which is a common sight with him!

Colbs hanging out on the fence while we wait for the tractor ride.

Carson found sitting on the pumpkins to be much more entertaining than picking one out......

while Gage found the rocks much more interesting!

Here we are getting ready to leave on the tractor ride.

Hi 5!

This fabulous young man turned 5 yesterday!

This is a day late because life has been crazy this weekend, but......

HAPPY BIRTHDAY COLBY!

I just can't believe he is 5 already. And what an amazing 5 year old he is!
He is so intelligent, kind-hearted, sensitive to others feelings, responsible, a fabulous helper, tender-hearted, obedient (most of the time), strong willed, handsome (like his dad), eager to learn, and just about the best boy we could ever ask for!
I am so proud to be his mom and loving watching him develop his own personality.
I love him so, so much!

On Friday he had his bday party. His choice was a Halloween theme, soooooo.......

invitations went out,

decorations were hung....(didn't get a picture of those, lame!),

guests came,

games were played....(didn't get a picture of that either, even more lame!),

birthday cake was served,

presents were opened,

gift bags made to like like brooms were dispersed,

and lots of fun was to be had! It was a lot of fun, and everyone had a blast, especially Colby!

A Baby Is Blessed

Yesterday we blessed our sweet Joshua. It was a great day! We love you Josh and are so glad you joined our family!

My mom made this blessing outfit for Colby, and because of that fact all my boys have worn this blessing outfit. It has so much meaning especially now that she has passed on. I cherish this outfit and the fact that my mom's love and hard work went into this beautiful outfit. It was nice to have a part of my mom still involved, even though I know she was their in spirit.

Advent Continued

I have had some people ask about a pattern for my advent calendar. Unfortunately, I don't have one, but I will tell you how I did it. I found the idea off http://www.tipjunkie.com/ and then tweeked it a bit.

  1. I got a cookie sheet, had Nate drill 2 holes at the top (for the ribbon), then painted it.
  2. I Mod Podged some scrapbook paper to the bottom of the cookie sheet. I put mod podge over the top of the paper and the paint to seal it all.
  3. Glued some letters (for "halloween countdown") on the paper and some embellishments.
  4. Made a grid with a ruler and a black, permanent pen and wrote the numbers for each day on the grid.
  5. I got a package of little cardboard chip squares and glued some different scrapbook paper to them.
  6. Glued a bunch of different little Halloween stickers from the craft store to the squares.
  7. Glued magnets to the back of each square.
  8. Put ribbon through the drilled holes and tied a bow for hanging and voila! You are done!
It really didn't take too much time anf you can be as creative as you want and make it to your liking! I hope it all makes sense.
