We Made It!

We made it to the great state of WA! It has been great to be here with my parents. We have lots of festivities to look forward to in the next couple of weeks. The drive up was long and uneventful. (Thank goodness!!!) The boys are having a blast exploring Nana and Papa's house. Colby was especially excited to cross the new bridge they built here. That has been a highlight of his trip! We have seen nothing but rain since we got here. I think I have lived away from here long enough to forget how dark and rainy it is in the winter. Oh well! We are still enjoying ourselves. I helped my mom decorate the house yesterday and went to lunch with my sister today. Nate is going snowboarding with my brother tomorrow, so we are keeping busy. I hope everyone is having a fun time this holiday season with preparations and celebrations!

MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!!! It's the most wonderful time of the year!!!

I Love Christmas!!!!

I just had to do this! Thanks, Carrie, for the fun idea!
1. Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot Chocolate all the way. Egg nog....not my fav.
2. Does Santa wrap the presents or just sit them under the tree? Some are wrapped and a few are left out with a bow. I think that creates more of the magic. My parents did that for us and I LOVED it!!
3. Red or white lights? I prefer white.
4. Do you hang mistletoe? I don't, although I would like to. I just haven't gotten any. My mom always did.
5. When do you put your decorations up? It varies from year to year. If we are going out of town for Christmas, I put them up earlier so we can enjoy them longer.
6. What is your favorite holiday dish? Wow.....probably fruit pizza my mom makes on Christmas morning. Delish!!!!
7. Favorite Holiday memory as a child? I think it would be going over to my Aunts house every Christmas Eve and having Santa come and bring us each a gift. It was so magical!
8. Most memorable Christmas? The first Christmas Nate and I spent with my family. I think that was just after we had Colby. It was just wonderful!
9. When and how did you learn the truth about Santa? I was older then most. I think 5th grade. I just loved the idea of Santa. One year I saw something in my moms trunk, then on Christmas it was from Santa. And a few other things made me wonder, but then it was my sister that really spilled the beans. She said something about Santa not being real, and I was devastated. To her defense, she thought I already knew. It was a very sad day for me.
10. Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? Yes, we do pajamas and an ornament.
11. How do you decorate your Christmas tree? Well, we don't have our tree up this year, so let me remember....White lights, bows, and all the ornaments I accumulated through the years.
12. Snow: I love it!!!! Until I have to attempt to drive in it. Scares me to death!
13. Can you ice skate? I actually can. Laura, Drew and I took lessons once in high school. I even learned how to twirl, but don't expect me to remember how to do that! I love to ice skate!
14. Do you remember your favorite gift? Um, I don't have a favorite gift. I just loved being able to have my brother and sister spend Christmas with us. To me , that was the best gift!
15. What's the most important thing about the holidays for you? The spirit of it and giving to others. Spending time with family. Also the Christmas music.
16. What is your favorite holiday dessert? I am so with Jana on this one! Anything chocolate and frosted sugar cookies.
17. What is your favorite holiday tradition? Getting a new Christmas ornament every Christmas Eve. My mom would get ones that pertained to us that year. She seemed to put a lot of thought into them. And then when I had my first tree to decorate, I had ornaments to put on it.
17. What is on top of your tree? We have a star.
18. Which do you like best giving or receiving? Giving by far! I love to see people open gifts especially when you have put a lot of thought and effort into it! I am so excited for Colby this year!
19. Christmas Song? It Came Upon A Midnight Clear
20. Do you like candy canes? Not my favorite, but I like the fruity flavored ones ok.
Let's hear your answers!

The Fire Alarm Lesson

Just about everywhere we go Colby asks me if there is a fire alarm and he tells me, "I won't set the fire alarm off." Let me explain this sudden obsession with fire alarms......Nate took Colby to work with him one Saturday a couple of months ago, after promising him he could go to work with Dad. Well all was going fine until somehow Colby pulled the fire alarm. It scared Colby to death! They had to evacuate the building. There is a call center that works in that same building who had to be evacuated as well. Colby was just bawling and bawling and kept saying, "I'm so sorry, dad!" The girls standing outside waiting to get back in thought he was so cute. Nate felt so bad for him. He was upset for a long time and really did feel so bad. He really didn't mean to, of course. :) Now he is extra conscious of fire alarms and what they do. Hey, that is how we learn sometimes, through our mistakes. Colby will never forget that, atleast he hasn't yet.

Holiday Preparations

The last few weeks I have been so busy getting ready for Christmas, the new year of Primary, going up to WA, christmas cards and Christmas sewing projects. I haven't had much of a spare moment. I can proudly say that I finished all my sewing projects last night! Yeah! One less thing I have to worry about for Christmas! They were fun to do. Now I am off to wrap presents!

Friday Flashback

Here is my cousin, Laura and I when we were 16. Isn't she beautiful? Growing up we were best friends and when we were younger, people would always ask or think we were twins. Funny, huh?! But we loved it! We have had so many good times. I sure love her!

Treats
Ears to not hear the snowmobile loud

Flashback Friday

Carrie did this and I thought it was a fun idea!
This is a picture of Nate and I when we were first dating. It was 6 years ago! My how time flies when you are having fun!

PS. I changed my blog template and it looks really cute on my computer, but when I go to view it on a different computer it doesn't show up right. So not cool!!! Anyone know why that is? Just thought I would ask. :-)

My New Favorite Art

Has anyone seen this Temple art by John Raymond? I saw them in Desert Book last week and fell in love with it!! I want it!!! It would go perfect in my family room.

Too Early For The Christmas Spirit???

There is a radio station that starts playing Christmas music non stop on Halloween. I have started to listen to it and am getting that Christmas Spirit. I LOVE IT!!! My only worry is that I will lose it before Christmas actually comes. I love Christmas and everything it means. It is time to start really thinking about gifts and decorating and giving. My favorite time of year!
PS. My mom left yesterday and I have been feeling a little blue. :( I miss her!

Black Friday

I have been getting emails letting me know about the Black Friday ads as they come out. I have no idea how I got on this email list, but I am getting them. I have cousins who go through all the ads Thanksgiving night to plan out what they are getting and where. Now, I have never subjected myself to the the Black Friday adventure, but this year I am seriously considering it. I have one item I want to get for a Christmas present and I can get it for a really good deal if I take advantage of Black Friday. Has anyone ever braved this day?? I am curious to know if it is worth it or not?? Please tell me your stories, because frankly, this picture frightens me!!!!!!

And if anyone is interested here is the website with all the Black Friday deals http://www.black-friday.net/

Back To Life.....Back To Reality

We have returned from out trip to Cali and we had the BEST time ever!!!! I just can't say enough how much fun it was! It was just perfect! We started out at Universal Studios and Colby got to meet Dora, Deigo, and Spiderman. He was quite shy to say hello or take a picture, so as you can see we had to pose with him.
We then spent 3 days in Disneyland. So fun!!! Colby LOVED every minute of it. Especially the rides. He went on everything he was tall enough for. So impressive! He went on Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Matterhorn, Thunder and Splash Mountain. He was a total trooper. Hardly ever complained. We had so much fun with him and Nae, Rhonda, Carter and my Dad.
The theme this year at Disneyland is "Year of a Million Dreams", so they have "Dream Team"Members around the park that give out free stuff to guests randomly. We were the lucky recipients of Fast Passes for all the big rides. You can see below the blue things around our neck. This was a big deal and we felt SO special!!! Disneyland truly is magical!

We then went down to San Diego and spent the last two days in Sea World and the San Diego Zoo.

We are sad to have the trip over, but are glad to be home, especially back with our Carson! Thank you Curt, Carrie and Mom for taking such good care of him while we were away! We love you guys!!!
